Stopped by Cafe Mami today (Saturday) and it was closed. Are they on vacation?

I seem to recall that when I was there a week or two ago, there was a sign that they would be on vacation. (I can't remember the details now, unfortunately...in fact, I'm not even 100% sure that this was at Mami that I saw this! but it seems familiar)

I don't know if they're on vacation, but they certainly have eccentric hours.

I ate dinner there tonight (sunday), and it was fab as usual. I hadn't noticed anything about a vacation, but I haven't been in for a couple of weeks. Our adorable waitress was wondering where we were!

I'm probably remembering wrong about where I saw this notice, sorry! (I'm pretty sure it was in some Japanese place recently, but hmmmmm... if it's not Mami, then I can't think where...)

I stopped by last night (10/13), the lights were off and there weren't any tables in there. It was dark and hard to see, but it made me sad... anyone have any other info?

I was at Kotobukiya on Friday, and Cafe Mami was open for business. In fact, debated over having dinner there before heading home, but didn't want to wait, since it was crowded as usual. I think it's business as usual...

I suspect that, like several other people who have posted on this thread, Velour44 has confused Cafe Mami (the Japanese cafe in the Porter Exchange building in Cambridge) with Miami Cafe (the recently-closed Caribbean cafe in the South End.)

I think Cafe Mami/Porter Sq is closed on either Mondays or Tuesdays.

They were open last night and very busy. Although we do find though that when it's very busy they won't pick up for take-out orders.

Odd. My spouse went there last night to get take out dinner (around 630 - 7ish pm). He said that they were closed so he ordered Bluefin sushi instead.

I can pretty much confirm the same - walked through the Exchange building around 5:30 on the way to find bubble tea (which also was closed on Tuesday) and Mami was shuttered and it seemed boxed up and closed up more permanently to my eye...

my theory is that since they have so little space, Cafe Mami puts boxes out on tables and countertops, which look like they're packing up. this is, what, the fourth thread in two years on about Cafe Mami closing? I do it too, every time I walk by when the other restaurants are open but they're not.

They most definitely do. I've walked by and seen the cook's pulling ingredients and supplies out of the big storage bins that are technically in the hallway, outside their restaurant.

Just had take out from them, and they seems as busy and tasty as ever. I usually do the take out since its always so crowded. Although I do find that they have an unusual schedule, so I try to call if I plan to try to head there.
