I took a wrong turn and got lost. As I was about to turn around on a country road that dead-ended there was a tiny sign "D&S Produce 1 1/2 miles".

Sure ... why not. I was lost anyway.

At first ... disappointment. It was located outside of the Stanly Lane Marketplace. Last time I stopped here about five years ago my only thought was "tourist trap". It is that store just about where hwy 29 and hwy 121/12 sort of intersect.

I drove on by. But the corner of my eye caught the display so I turned around.

This is a wonderful produce stand.

The Wild Boar tomatoes were everything a perfect summer tomato should be - juicy, acidic and packed with tomato flavor. $2.49 lb.

I haven't tried the Abate Fetal pears yet - 99 cents a pound. Here's more about them and a photo.

I don't believe I've seen them before.

Also not tried yet the most beautiful Red Delicious apples ... so deeply red, Sleeping Beauty would be tempted to take a bite.

Wonderful fresh kadota and black mission figs and all sorts of berries. Here's the whole produce list.

From the website, it seems they started selling produce about three years ago. Once again the food gods lead me to deliciousness.
