I heard Mary Mac's Tea room is excellent. I am in Atlanta too. I am going to try it tomorrow for lunch. I'll let you know how it is.

I believe the OP is looking for recs in Athens, as opposed to Atlanta.
dmb09: I would suggest you do a search on here...you'll find lots of recs. Also, you'll probably get more suggestions if you can offer some information as to what kind of food, price range, etc. I'm sure the Classic City will be a mob scene this weekend, and everywhere will be packed. It is more likely you'll have to eat where you can, as opposed to where you want to, due to the crowds.

It really depends on what you're willing to spend, but if you want to keep it reasonable (25-40 dollars for two people) I would go to mama's boy on lexington road. Everything there is absolutely delicious and the staff if friendly and attentive. just google mama's boy athens. if you want fine dining, I would recommend the national and 5&10. However, I am guessing that they will be fully booked, but its worth a shot. It will run you anywhere from 100-200 dollars for two people (depending on alcohol purchases) but I assure you, it is WORTH IT. five and ten is one of the finest restaurants in the south by all accounts.

Mary Mac's Tea room, was delicious. Chicken and Dumplings were great, and the deep fried green tomatoes. Definitely worth a try.
