Looking for a cup of tea.

I am looking for a quiet place to have a cup of tea with a friend. Anywhere that is walking distance from the Yonge subway line would be nice. I want to stay away from the coffee chains and try some place new. Any suggestions?

We went to David's Tea last week. It's west of the Osgoode station on Queen and a couple of blocks east of Spadina. I'm more of a coffee guy but I've been branching out into tea lately. Somebody who knows more may have a different opinion, but they had an impressive selection of teas, and the teas were fresh and aromatic. I liked the tea I had (white tea with peach blossoms, I think). The staff was also friendly and enthusiastic (including David, apparently the owner).

The downside is that they don't have a lot of room to sit down. I think there were only 3-4 small tables in the back. However, there were four of us, and we were able to sit and talk comfortably for a good while.

Oh, and the cupcakes were really good. So it might be worth a try

There used to be a Ten Ren tea place at Yonge and Empress Walk. They were pretty good. Nice bubble tea. They did steeped tea too.

Tea Emporium...I've been to the one that was on Avenue Rd. and quite liked it. There's one at Yonge and Eglinton that's supposed to be quite nice too. Try the single estate teas (the tea equivalent of single malt scotch)
