What's the best pork roll?

I hear the accolades of Bruce Williams every night about his love of pork roll and the fact that his mail order company sells all 3 companies. I live in northern Michigan and have never been near New Jersey but from his description it sounds like something I would like. I see there are the three manufacturers---Case, Taylor, and Loeffler. Could some natives tell me the differences, preferences, "Consumer Reports"?

Taylor Pork Roll is Taylor Ham, if you are in North Jersey

Yep, another former Jerseyan votes for Taylor pork roll (Which is NOT the same as Taylor Ham). Mmmm...salty, fatty, hang-over curing goodness.

Ah! the memories. As a child we visited Atlantic CIty for the beach and boardwalk ( wayyy before gambling). The real treat were the Taylor Pork Roll stores on the Boardwalk. Flame-kissed pork roll served hot on a roll while sitting at the little rustic wood tables with my grandparents. The best pork roll is truly the treat I had those many years ago.

Ahhh . . . a topic dear to my heart!

Having grown up at the Shore, I must disagree with most of you. I submit that Trenton Brand pork roll is the best! At least in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, it is the brand you will find in most delis. (Brennan's in Rumson was noted as one of the best sandwiches in the nation by Esquire earlier this year. The Seabreeze in Spring Lake Heights may be even better though.)

Also, around here, it's a Hard Roll.

Trenton Brand is made by Taylor. It may be a tad milder.

I believe it says it is the mild version right on the wrapping.

According to my spouse, raised in the jersey area, Taylor is it. He's made it a few times, and frankly I don't get its appeal. Looks and tastes like plain old baloney to me. I always pass, he loves it, probably now as an adult more for the nostalgia than anything else.

Taylor - definitely. But I've never had or heard of Loeffler....I could be missing out!
Fry it up and serve on a kaiser roll with egg and cheese - nothing finer for breakfast after a night of drinking!

Taylor. For me, it's one of those brand names that becomes the product - like Band-Aid!

Taylor ham egg and cheese on a roll. I think I ate it daily from 15-18 on the way to school.
