Dinner near VMA in Providence

Looking for a restaurant recommendation near the VMA before a concert on Saturday night. Something nice, since it has been a while since my husband and I have had a "date night". Not sure what is available at this late date...

  1. Considering the weather is supposed to be awful, I would see if I could get a reservation at Temple. It wouldn't be my top choice, but you can't beat the convenience to Vets.

How is the food at Temple? Also, how is Joe's Pub (?), by the mall? Or any of the other restaurants that are on the ground floor there?

Assuming that you want to walk between VMA and the restaurant, I'm posting places that are nearby since the weather is suppose to be terrible. If you are willing to drive, please let us know and you will probably get different suggestions.

I'm not a fan of the food at Temple or any of the places on the ground floor of the mall except Napa Valley Grill (is probably the best of the ones there). You would have a relatively short walk to Waterplace Park or Cafe Nuovo. Another option is to walk through the mall going over the pedestrian bridge to the Westin. This would minimize your time outside and would put you near Flemings (in the Westin).

We may have to drive. I find Cafe Nuovo overpriced for what you get, and I don't think we want something that pretentious, so other suggestions are welcome. I haven't been to Napa Valley Grill, but if the weather is atrocious, we will consider it.

Temple's food has been hit or miss for me. Just stick to simple things. The roasted beet salad is one of my favorite things there and it's always good. The atmosphere is nice, and the prices aren't outrageous. The Cheesecake Factory is okay for some appetizers and split a piece of cheesecake for dessert.
