NYer needs some help!
Hi there,
I am visiting Boston from New York next week and need some restaurant guidance. Can anyone suggest some restaurants for a Saturday night dinner for two given the following challenges-- my friend keeps kosher-style (will eat vegetarian and fish in non-kosher places) and can't eat gluten. Priority is solid food, but would also like a nice ambiance. Open to any cuisine, price is flexible (up to $50/person). thanks!
Here is a recent thread pertaining to the kosher part of the requirement:

One of the recs in there I'd second is Oleana, which has some fantastic vegetarian dishes (and fantastic non-vegetarian dishes) and great ambiance. Can't speak to the gluten-free requirement, alas.

The last time I was at Oleana (my favorite veggie place in the area) there was someone who was gluten-free at the table next to ours. The waiter asked him what he saw on the menu that he liked, and then talked to the chef about preparing something gluten-free based on those dishes. The waiter came back to the diner and gave him some options to choose from. They seemed very accommodating, but it can't hurt to call and ask. If you do decide on Oleana, be sure to get a reservation.
