Where to have a nice lunch in Salinas?

There used to be a great Italian place where all the deputy sheriffs ate, but last time we were through it was undergoing renovation. We ate at Hullabaloos once, but wonder are there any other good places. We go through there on our way from Bay area to Santa Barbara about twice a year. I've read some things on previous boards about taco trucks, but I'm not sure I want that. I good sit down Mexican would be great.

      It's not Mexican, but I've always had stellar meals at Monterey Coast Brewing Company. Their grilled artichokes are literally the best I've ever eaten, their pizzas are fabulous, and their short ribs confirmed my other half would never be a vegetarian. I've never eaten anything here that wasn't great. The beer's good, too!
