Looking for special dinner with my husband to celebrate my 35th birthday. We live in Livingston, NJ so I would love to stay within 20-30 miles since we have a new baby and are leaving her with a sitter. Looking for Italian, New American or Eclectic. Anywhere you have tried recently that you cant wait to go back? Thanks in advance!

If you don't think Montclair is too far from Livingston I strongly recommend Culinariane http://www.culinariane.com. Wonderful food, wonderful service, great atmosphere, BYO.

LuNello's is good. You might want to try Il Mondo Vechio in Madison. Food is good and it is BYOB so you can be sure to bring your husband's favorite wine

totally agree with lu nellos for a wonderful italian dinner. as a matterrof fact, we are going to dinner there this coming thursday. however, if you want a romantic place with a beautiful view and good food, try the highlawn pavillion in one of the oranges, i believe. it was voted most romantic this year in new jersey magazine and perhaps best for a special night as well. we enjoyed dinner at fascino in montclair, but would not go there for a birthday dinner.

Agree with Lu Nello's. We've been going there for years and have always had great meals!. Might also want to consider Lorena's in Maplewood, CulinArianne or Fascino both in Montclair.

Consider LuNello's in Cedar Grove. It's approximately 10 miles from Livingston and a 15 minute drive....very easy to get to off of Route 23

For Italian, I have been trying to find a good excuse to go back to Fiorino in Summit. I also had a memorable meal recently at the Tabor Road Tavern roght off Rt 10. in Morris Plains. That would be New American.
