Comfort Food near 14th St & 2nd Ave - East Village

I know this is late, but I'm looking for some comfort food tonight near 14th St & 2nd Ave in the East Village, where I recently moved and still don't know all the best spots. Just spent 3 hours at the dentist, and while I can chew just fine, I'm not going far from home.

    Hopefully it's not too late. Have you considered The Redhead, on 13th street just west of 1st ave? It's southern food, with a very high comfort quotient. The fried chicken I had there last week was pretty outstanding.

        I was going to suggest The Redhead as well!

          This is a really late reply, but Redhead was the perfect place for that night! Great fried chicken, cozy restaurant, and nice staff.
