Bethesda Saturday Afternoon, Flanagan's or Union Jack?

Going to be hanging out in Bethesda this weekend with my groomsmen, and we are looking to grab a few beers and some pre-wedding chow (nothing fancy) Saturday afternoon. Anyone passionate one way or the other on Flanagan's Harp and Fiddle or Union Jack British Pub (we're all big beer fans, love us a big dirty pint or choice microbrews). Any other Bethesda suggestions for some 30 and 40 somethings looking for a nice chill locale sans the college football scene (or at least kept at a minimum)? Thanks in advance!

  1. Beer before the wedding? perhaps just session beers...
I'll give Flanagan's a thumbs up. Try Rock Bottom brewery for non-macro choices.
Union Jacks has some good British food.
Daily Grill under the Hyatt, not to bad
Ri-Rahs has a few different choices and some good 'irish' food
Blackfinn has a stupid No Irish Need Apply sign, which i find racist and their beer menu is standard, nothing interesting
i haven't tried but perhaps better for the occasion would be Gaffney's on Wisconsin next to the womens coop. good beer places will probally be football (but at flanagans and ri-rahs that means soccer) places.
just my 2cents if you have more specific tastes let me know, have a good time!
