There's a Kosher Jewish Deli I found on Washington Ave. in Bergenfield in a strip mall...

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Is it good? Got a plain roll from there today (upset stomach) which I have to say was fresh and delicious though I'm not sure if that's because I haven't been eating anything due to the upset stomach or if it really was good-

Does anyone know if they have good deli sandwiches (pastrami, etc.), knishes, hot dogs? It is right around where I work and it would be nice to have a place like this to stop every so often (though clearly not all the time!) Thanks!

  1. If your query is about Foster Village Kosher Delicatessen, their sandwiches are excellent, the meats always moist and tender. Their meats are kept in a steamer and not microwave reheated or grill heated. Pastrami is what I always get there, but others also enjoy the Corned Beef and Brisket.

As for the Hot dogs and Knishes...never ordered either. From my recollection they are both typical commercial products and nothing special. I cannot recall the manufacturer, but if not Hebrew National, something similar like Shofar. The Knishes may be from Galbila, but again, I am not sure.

FVKD has been operating with the same owner for a very long time, maybe 30 years or more and they have a very loyal following from the local community. Here is some more information regarding Pastrami from others:

I'm not so fast on the draw this am, I the time it took me to find that same permalink, it has already been posted. Oh well...

Anyway- definitely affirmative on those Foster Village sandwiches. Enjoy them, lucky you.
