Candy stores on LI?

Looking for a good candy shop on Long Island, south/central--by that, I mean starting along the Nassau/Suffolk border and middle island/south shore. Will venture further north and east/west, but that's the area I'd like to focus on. Patchogue and Great Neck, e.g., are too far.

Not looking for a chocolatier, or a convenience store with with racks of bars. Thinking more like the candy shop ("The Candy Man" song) in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory--the original, that is.

I've been to Dylan's Candy Bar and that doesn't really do it for me.

Any ideas?

  1. Hi,

The ones I can think of off the top of my head are Hildebrandt's in Williston Park or the Sweet Shop in Northport Village. Both fit your bill.

Then of course there is Itgin's in Valley Stream...but that's out of your area.

    2. You want to visit Emile’s Candies
      229 Merrick Rd., Oceanside

      Wonderful old-fashioned candy store.

      1. I just remembered St James General Store, haven't been there lately but talk about old fashioned!

        1. Dylan's Candy Bar in Roosevelt Field Mall? Also one in East Hampton
