Edmonton Coffee House

Hello!

I am looking for a local coffee house with an excellent latte where I spend a few hours on Saturday or Sunday morning. Skyview (north) area would be ideal - walking is always better than driving. Essentially I would prefer that my weekly $5 caffein habit support someone local rather than a multi-national corporation.

Thanks for any suggestions!

There's a tea place by the North Edmonton Cineplex Odeon, but no independent coffee places in the north end that I can think of. Maybe try St. Albert?

Hands down, the two best coffee shops in Edmonton are:

      1) Three Bananas Cafe - Using Intelligentsia's Black Cat Espresso, one of my favourite coffees.
      9918 - 102 Avenue (Churchill Square)
      Website: www.threebananas.ca

      2) Transcend Coffee - Using their own blend that they roast in-house. They also do coffee tastings! Great people; very willing to talk about all aspects of coffee. I love this place!!! It's almost always my first stop when I drive into Edmonton. Don't be intimidated by all the types of coffee available. The baristas are very friendly and patient; they won't steer you wrong.
9869 - 62 Avenue (It's an industrial park, but easy to find driving down 99 St. - look for a sign on the side of the road.
      )Website: www.transcendcoffee.com

Both these places are pretty much as local as you get. Unfortunately, they're a bit removed from you. But trust me, they're worth the drive (and I'm from Calgary)!!!
