Gotham Bar and Grill

rebus1805 Sep 21, 2008 08:58 AM

I want to take my son and his fiancee to the Gotham Bar and Grill. I have very good memories of this restaurant but have not been there for several years. Any recent reviews would be helpful.

My husband and I ate there just last night for the first time in about 8 years. We walked in about 9:30 on a saturday night and were promptly given a great seat at the bar. We shared the foie gras, pasta special (mushroom with a truffle sauce) and the lobster entree. All were fabulous, especially the pasta and lobster. But above all the service was perfect. It was still packed when we left after 11pm.

I will be dining here tomorrow night. I've always had good experiences and am wondering if there is anything very special on the current menu that I should be on the lookout for. Thanks!

I last dined at Gotham in late August. The absolute musts were the corn soup (best soup I've ever had, I return annually for it), Five Spice Duck, and the onion rings that accompany the steak (they will serve them a la carte with mustard custard upon request).

Wow they will serve the onion rings a la carte?? That is great!!!!

Also how was the five spice duck as far as portion. Did they prepare it with a crispy skin and rare moist meat?

It's been about a year since I had the duck. It was definitely rare and moist, but I don't remember whether the skin was crispy.
