Outer Banks - Sunset Grill (Duck, NC)

What a dump! We ate at the Sunset Grill in Duck, NC last night, and it was the worst meal I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Sunset Grill is basically a feeding trough disguised as a "fun" Carribean-style restaurant with overly expensive rum drinks in stupid souvenir cups. It is disgusting. We should have walked out immediately when the waiter brought our spicey fries to the table (20 minutes after we ordered them as an appetizer), and they were cold. Honestly, how hard is it to get fries right? All they have to be is hot, but Sunset Grill failed on that point.

Then came the entrees (all of which were priced from $16.99 to $19.99). I had the crab cakes which were luke-warm, and every very bite contained a piece of shell. On top of that, I suspect the crab meat was canned and not fresh, even though that's what the menu indicated. The "steamed" veggies that went along side were over-cooked and salty. The mashed potatoes were cold. Someone else at my table ordered the pasta primavera, and though it looked good, it was bland and again, luke-warm. The best meal at the table was the kid's spaghetti and marinara, which was probably from a jar. Our total bill was over $100 for 3 adults and 1 kid. This meal was a waste of money and an utter disappointment. Skip this swill.
