Chuck's Donuts (another one - San Carlos)

I was in San Carlos and in the mood for a doughnut and saw the sign "Chuck's Donuts" and stopped in. Note that this is not the Chuck's Donuts on Woodside Road in Redwood City or Ralston Avenue in Belmont. This one is not related to those other two (which are related). I had a French donut, also known as French cruller, and lo and behold it was quite good. I took it out and ate it in the car so didn't ask when it was made; I don't know if it was really fresh or had been sitting a while. Anyway, it was was light and tender as it should be and way better than most versions are. It may not have been the best I've ever had, but it's been a long time since I've had one as good as that one. I was served by a very gracious young (probably teen-age) girl. One sample just isn't enough to tell, so I'm going to have to stop in again soon (I'm working in the area for a few weeks).

  1. FYI, they're made fresh at 3:30 every day--that's the best time to stop in for one!! I LOVE them!

      Did you mean am or pm?

      I've since stopped in at about 7 in the morning and several types were very fresh, even still warm, but there were no French ones until 8am according to the woman working there.
