Help! Group Birthday Dinner in/near Forest Hills

(See above :-)

Can anyone suggest a place to host a dinner for a group of about 15-20 people? Most any cuisine is ok (American, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, Indian, French, Mexican, etc.). Proximity to public transportation is even better. Most places I'm thinking of aren't large enough to host a large group.

Thanks!

  1. I would suggest Cabana, 5 Burro Cafe, Mardi Gras. Cabana & Mardi Gras about a 3 min walk. 5 Burro Cafe about a 5 min walk from 71st Continental Ave stop. I have been to brithday parties at all three with about 15-20 people.

I would think 5 Burro would be tough to do for a party of 15-20 people though I suppose you could try to reserve the back area. Even so, I think the food there is going downhill and I used to be a lone defender of the place.

For Chinese there is East Ocean Palace on Queens Blvd near the 75th Ave stop. They could definitely accommodate a large group and the food there is very good.

    2. Because the party is large I recommend a place with "safer" food. The Family Restaurant on Queens Blvd. serves very nice italian food and is good with big parties.

The last place I would consider "safe" would be THE FAMILY restaurant. My experience and that of many others have found the place to be just awful. And as as far as festive, maybe if you were forced to go there when there's a death in the family but for a birthday, no way. You can do much better than that place. Stick with the previous tips and it should be fine. Or go to one of the Bukarian places, that would be fun, too.

ooh, a throwdown at cheburechnaya would be really delicious with a huge gang of people!

I agree. This is a fantastic idea.
Especially if they are still BYOB.
