Near Joe Louis Arena in Detroit

Hey you Chowhounders. Looking for suggestions for a good dinner near the Joe. Doesn't have to be fancy, just outstanding food. Thanks!

I always used to like the Hellas restaurant on Monroe in Greektown. Take the people mover to get there.

Haven't been there for a while though.

New Hellas is closed. Pizza Papalis is solid, though.

a good place within walking distance to the joe is a bit tough. anchor bar for a burger. lafayette for coneys. have not heard much about the signature grille, which is in the riverfront apartments and connected by a walkway.

your best bet is to get on the people mover. check the following page from a while back where i attempted a list of places by each people mover station.

I haven't been to this place, but some people rave about it. And you can't get much closer to JLA.

Walking or driving distance? Seldom Blues at the Renaissance Center is close and great, Irridescence at Motor City Casino, or the Michael Mina joints at MGM also work. Greektown has Pizzapapalis which isn't fancy, but is awesome.
