Ontario electric code now specifies that circuits in the kitchen can be 20 amp. In fact almost all new built houses will have these if a circuit is near a sink. Does anybody know of any kitchen devices that can takes advantage of this? In particular I am looking for a 2000 watt electric kettle in Toronto and having no luck so far.

I don't think you will find one. There are some 1700 watt models, but you need to hunt around to find one.

I have a T-Fal Vitesses 1700 watt kettle, but I don't remember where I bought it. It wasn't widely available. The higher wattage units I'm aware of all require a 220 volt line.

I suspect you are right. I am from the UK and miss the high power devices - my wife misses the hair drier. I had a 2500 watt kettle there. Almost worth going home for.

Canadian Tire sell a 1750 watt kettle - I guess I will settle for that. (Is yours the one with the temperature control? )
