Rive Gauche - Last Night

It's been a while since we were last at Rive Gauche (Ventura Blvd. just 35 feet east of Stansbury in Sherman Oaks) and we ended up on their patio last night. They have probably one of the top 3 or 4 romantic restaurant patios in all of LA (bring a flashlight if you don't have cat eyes for menu reading by candlelight). It was a perfect night to sit outside last night.

I'm not saying their food is earth shattering, but it is certainly good and fairly priced. Pate Maison for my wife and a Caesar salad for me to start. Chicken breast with anglehair pasta for her and the grilled seafood brochette over couscous for me, (I love the way they do their tiny little vegetables). One regular iced tea, one Long Island iced tea and one coffee and the tab was $75, plus tip.

One small service hiccup (I ordered a second LI iced tea but it didn't make it to the table - and probably a good thing in any case).

  1. Good to know. I've only seen less than stellar reviews of it, but now am wondering...

    1. Patio is nice as is the inside, but I cannot ever remember a meal I enjoyed there all that much - nothing bad, just sort of there. And for the same money, I can eat at Max down the street with much better food, very nice ambiance, and a wider variety of taste sensations, and a very good wine list.
