quiet,comfy,good Italian

Thanks so much for all the input so far on my trip.besides my 40th wedding anniversary, we are now able to have a dinner for 8 on our first night with folks from Manhattan college who I havent seen in along time.So Im looking for a not so noisy, widely spaced tables, casually served Italian dinner spot--we'd love to sit and talk for at least 2 hours--one of the wives has a hearing issue so we need low ambient noise--and great food. Price isnt so much an issue--any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.Manhattan would be best-thanks

  1. Campanile, on 29th St., b/t Madison & Park, is a neighborhood hidden gem serving delicious traditional Italian fare. The staff couldn't be nicer or more efficient and even if you are the last ones there, they will never rush you out. The ambiance is exactly what you are looking for: endearing old-fashioned decor, well-spaced tables, and a quiet, conversation-friendly noise level. You don't indicate what day of the week you will be doing this, so I should mention that they are closed on Sunday.

Yes, Campanile is most definitely a very comfortable casual place.
