Restaraunts with a great view?

What restaraunts have exceptional views of the city, the kind where you'd take out of town visitors to impress them with the scenery? (great food would of course be a bonus)... Places that come to mind for me...

The restaraunt at the Getty
Penthouse at the Huntley
The Odyssey (great view... sadly its only of the valley)

Where else?

  1. Some others to consider:

    Saddle Peak Lodge
    Enounter Restaurant
    One Pico at Shutters
Cafe Pacific at Trump National Golf Club
    Geoffreys

I think that the conversation begins and end with Geoffreys.

anothernotch.... apparently you're in the wrong conversation. OP said CITY view

Agreed, I should have provided details about my last post. Instead, I was building off of the 'other considerations' suggested by ipsedixit. While not a city view, I think that the Malibu coastline, as seen from Geoffreys is the best view, particularly at sunset, in Southern California.

If you're ever in Laguna, check out the ocean view from Las Brisas. A panoramic view of the pacific from the cliffs. Over 200 degrees of the horizon laid out before you. Breathtaking

Not much view at Saddle Peak,

        What about West?

        Yamashiro has pretty mediocre food.

        Cliff'a Edge

One of the New places on Malibu Pier?

      3. Yamashiro's
        1999 N. Sycamore Avenue
        Hollywood, CA 90068

        1. It used to be Fenix, at the Argyle Hotel on Sunset blvd. Don't know what the current status of the restaurant is but, assuming they haven't remodeled to the point of obliterating the south end of the restaurant, you'll find a gorgeous view of the city. I haven't been to BLT Steak, but if the rear of the restaurant has a window, it too would offer a great view.

            1. Prime on top of the Bonaventure, Blue Velvet or the patio at Cafe Pinot for closer views of the City. If you know someone who is a member, the City Club on Bunker Hill offers spectacular views.

              1. Catch in Santa Monica. Great Crudo and nice view of pier and ocean

                1. takami sushi downtown. great view. not bad, but certainly not great, food

                  1. The only places I can think of with nice views do not have great food:

                    Like others mentioned, Yamashiro
                    There's the Castaway in Burbank
                    The Standard
