Anniversary Dinner Sunday Recommendations Needed

My wife and I will be lucky enough to celebrate our anniversary in Austin this upcoming Sunday. Our challenge is to find a great restaurant that is open on Sundays. We have a car and are willing to travel outside the metro area, if necessary. What we're looking for is
great food with a romantic (or at least somewhat upscale) atmosphere, with the food taking priority. We're adventurous diners.

  1. I can't recommend Jezebel on Congress enough.

Do a search on this board and you'll find lots of great reviews.

    Happy Anniversary!

Thanks, Amy. We have been searching the board, but figured with the stipulations we have (anniversary, romantic, open on Sunday) we might more easily hone in on the right place. My short list includes: Jezebel, Hudson's, Siena, Bellagio, La Traviata and Jeffrey's. I'm certainly open to comments on the short list and also open to any place I might have missed.

We went to Jezebel for our anniversary and had a really excellent experience, including a thank you note from the staff for spending our special night there.

Jezebel for sure. When you call and make reservations tell them you're celebrating your anniversary. They'll make it extra special and do a bounus dessert on the house. Plus the romantic feel and phenomenal service are perfect for such an special occasion!

All set to sign up for Jezebel, but it's closed on Sunday, so we're still open to suggestion....and we just might move our celebratory dinner back to Monday.

      2. Olivia is open for dinner on Sundays now!

I don't think Olivia has a romantic feeling at all. Much too noisy. Very similar to Uchi in decor and atmosphere.

Personally, I would go to Jezebel on Monday and cook a special dinner at home on Sunday

Spent a most enjoyable evening at Jezebel tonight and it was fun celebrating the anniversary for two days. I had the wild boar with mango chutney and horseradish-infused mashed potatoes and it was out of this world. Also really enjoyed the sinful , lavender and goat cheese stuffed French toast

Made with sweet Challah bread & served with

Sri Lankan cinnamon ice cream and Vermont maple syrup .

The chef has a wonderful touch in combining Indian spices with more standard American fare, making for some adventurous dining.

Thanks, Austin Chowhounders, for a great recommendation!
