Southern Italian

sunsuze Sep 18, 2008 07:05 AM

Looking for a tradtional place that serves great veal dishes. Am staying downtown but am willing to venture out on subway or by cab. Traditional meaning "old school" southern Italian food like lasagna, meatballs, veal parmesan. Thanks - I know Chicago has got to have some places with great character!

The Italian Village (3 restaurants in one building) has been around forever and has a traditional selection of offerings in 2 of their 3 options, but Chicago is full of Southern Italian; see, for example the various Rosebud restaurants. There are many excellent old-school outlying places but these should do it for a visitor.
