Great American Beer Fest: Pretzel or Not

jenwee Sep 17, 2008 03:56 PM

I've been to the GABF a few times and noticed people walking around with a string full of pretzels around their neck. My brother says its lame but I'm kind of intrigued. So....at the GAFB or any other beer fest do you pretzel? :)

Oktoberfest, beer hall pretzels are massive, though they're of the soft variety.

Sure, why not. Its not as bad as walking around with a sample cup holding lanyard around your neck like the uber-geeks who attend these fests. ;-)

I like booths that offer up a little palate cleansing snack like pretzels, crackers, or bread. One fest I went to, Stoudts brought some locally made artisinal bread with them. I stuffed a couple of slices in my pocket and munched on it after each sample to cleanse the palate.

Nothing beats the bigger-than-your-head pretzels at Oktoberfest in Munich though.

I agree with L Staff, if you're there especially to taste and learn it helps to cleanse the palate. Also its easier to carry pretzels around your neck than it is fish and chips. I've never been impressed with any food vendors at the convention center so (dry) pretzels are also your safest investment.
