Newport doesn't have a "clam shack, lobster pot" type place downtown. The closest is Flo's across from first beach in Middletown, I can't tell you if the lobster roll is any good, , but it's a classic shack atmosphere. If you're up for a little drive, Evelyns in Tiverton is really good and it's a gorgeous area to take a drive. Mooring has pretty good food and a good view from the deck. Have fun!

I wish I had found this question earlier. Easton's Beach Snack Bar serves Twin Lobster Rolls www.eastonsbeach.com with Boardwalk French Fries for only $10.99. You can sit out on the upper deck and watch the surfers. Yes its real lobster and no you don't get 10 lb of lobster but it's really good. The Snack Bar might be open the weekend of sept 27,28 check the web site for updated hours. Then the weekend after that they will be at the Norman Bird sanctuary for the harvest fair.
