Fresh, Seasonal and Local in DC/Alex

I did an internship in DC in the 90's. When I go back now I find that while my tastes have moved on the restaurants there haven't. Maybe it's just a function of where I go-- anyway I need some help here. Where are the chefs who make exciting plates with fresh local food in season. I don't mean the ones that feature one or two items but the true devotees of non-industruial cuisine. Thanks.

  1. There is a lot of this going on in DC right now.

    Check out: Equinox, Palena (either the cafe or the more expensive back room), Restaurant Eve,and Cashion's Eat Place.

    1. Food Matters in Cameron Station on Duke St., Alexandria.
      Vermillion in Old Town and Evening Star Cafe in Del Ray. Both excellent chefs cooking with local farmers' ingredients

      1. There's also Blue Duck Tavern in DC.
