Manzanita Resturat

Yesterday I stopped by a vegen Resarurant for lunch. Yes for my critics on me skipping ordering vegetables at my dinners I had to eat here so that I can get the monkey off my back.

Manznaita Restaurant in Emeryville

I had the full meal for about 12 dollars or so.

It came with a large bowl of a lentil miso soup a great complex flavor very filling.

Then a large plate of organic vegtables and beans were served.

Two salads with a ginger carrot dressing and I think a miso based dressing.

A wilted greens cooked vegetables.

Black beans cooked just to the right texture.

A warm paste salad with some meat texture product that made you think you were having meat.

I was full before I could finish the plate so I got the rest to go.

I fine meal that I would return to a lot more, if it was closer to me.

Tried to link but was not able to

4001 Larkin in Emeryville.

Menus are posted daily for lunch and dinner

For what I learned talking the staff they have a guest chef at night on a regular basis.

I have always wanted value for my dining dollars. So I order more meat dishes vs. vegetable dishes because I think I can cook my own vegetables (yes wolfe I can cook) so a few hounds have taken me to task about my lack of vegetables on my menus. I would name the hounds but I do not want the monkey to be ID otherwise it back on my back.

I knew that, as I remember you tied for first in chicken salad division at the 2008 Chowdown Picnic at Tilden.

That tie make me retire from cooking again in contest. But have develop four new recipes for Chicken Salad. But will not share since oakjoan is still out there ready to take me down again.

Manzanita is a favorite eating spot for many of my colleagues. The food is so good. It makes you FEEL good to eat it. I'm surprised there aren't more postings here about it. It's one of a kind. They have simple, moderate, and full lunches and dinners, and on weekends there's an all-you-can-eat buffet. A moderate dinner is about $13.50 and includes soup and a nice sized plate of green salad, steamed kale with a sauce, a mound of grains (could be brown rice w/quinoa or sweet rice, etc.), very tasty, perfectly cooked vegetables, and some type of bean or legume. It is 100% vegan, organic, macrobiotic.

The ambience leaves something to be desired; I'd love it if they decorated the place a bit. But the seats are comfortable, the staff is lovely, and the food is the star of the show.

Thanks for the update. Will have to try it on the weekends. How much for the buffet? Hard to believe that yimster eats vegan.

FYI, they are not 100% organic.
