Met Opera - Do they serve cake?

I heard a rumor that when you go to a gala at the Met, they serve white cake for guests. Is this true, or is it just a rumor?

If it is true, is the cake free? What kind of cake is it?

Thanks,
mb

do you mean a gala or intermission? at a gala there is a dinner set (with dessert) that is "free" if you buy the gala tickets.

Thanks! It seemed a bit unlikely!

The ONLY thing that's free at the MetOpera is the little paper cups for the free water at the water fountains! You can buy brownies and little sandwiches and coffee at the various areas near the bars.
