New resto in Forest Hill?

  • 5

My sources tell me a new restaurant has opened in Forest Hill village. I don't get around that area too often but wondered if any other hounds can shed more light? Apparently this is an upscale offshoot of a sister restaurant close by. Ring any bells?

  1. I think you're referring to the place at the corner where David's By Day/[something] By Night (or whatever it was called) used to be. And if memory serves me correctly, it's run by the same people as Hope Street Cafe on Lonsdale - I think?

        1. it's called southside grill

          1. South Side Grill is on the south eats corner of Spadina and Lonsdale. It's owned by the same young man who owns Hope Street Cafe across the street on the north side of Lonsdale.

The new resto is decidedly upscale, looks alot like The Rushton inside, has a long, very nice bar area as well as an outdoor patio. The menu is your basic fare, a mix of everything - steak, fish, veal, duck. Prices are very high for a neighbourhood place IMO. For example, if I recall the steak is around $48 or $50.

We haven't eaten there yet but will give it a try and report back.

Yes, that sounds like the one!! South Side Grill. I would be very interested in hearing anything on it if anyone's been. In the meantime, I will try and schedule a visit myself. So many restaurants, to little time!
