Dining in Traverse City

A group of us are getting together in Traverse for dinner in October. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion of Red Ginger and Stella's. I read one very favorable review of Stella's, but couldn't find anything on Red Ginger. We were also thinking about a wine tasting trip for the afternoon...between Old Mission and Lelanau does one have a better selection of wines than the other?
Any feedback would be appreciated as we are trying to make reservations soon.

Red Ginger, Stella's - I've been to both and greatly enjoyed them. Can't go wrong with either one. As far as the wine tasting trip goes, I prefer the vintners on the Lelanau. I'm biased that way because I particularly enjoy sparkling wines and Mawby's near Suttons Bay has some of the best champagne types I've ever had.

I live in Leelanau County. First of all, Stella is fantastic. Red Ginger is very new, and I have not been there. I have only heard wonderful things about it. Here is their website, if you haven't seen it: http://eatatginger.com/talk.php If you have time to do both, I would! I am not sure if the wines in Leelanau are better, but you have more options. I agree with Wakeley Mawby's sparkling wines are the best. It is not my favorite, but "Sex" is always from to buy and drink. My other favorites are Chateau Fontaine, Shady Lane Cellars, and Leelanau Wine Cellars. If you come to Leelanau Wine Cellars in Omena, stop in Knot, Just A Bar next door. I may be the one serving drinks. Good luck and have fun!!!

Thanks Wakeley and Havendae, I will pass this along to my friend who is planning the dinner. I'm sure we'll have a great time.
