Willow Glen's Aqui or John's XLNT? What to Order?

We'll be in Willow Glen from OC this coming weekend...and thanks to you & the search feature, we've narrowed down our choices to:

- Falafel Drive In (for falafels, banana shake & sides)
- Aqui AND/OR John's XLNT

We will have time for Aqui OR John's for lunch. Which is better? And what to order? Or should we do John's for b'fast & Aqui for lunch?

Your thoughts? Thank you!

    1. Sorry OCAnn there doesn't appear to be much that is current.

      Aqui Cal-Mex Grill
1145 Lincoln Ave, San Jose, CA 95125

      John's XLNT Foods
1238 Lincoln Ave, San Jose, CA 95125

    2. Keep in mind that Fallafel Drive In closes at 5pm.

Dia de Pesca is of a similar vein to FDI in regards to the casual outdoor seating. They have good fish tacos and only a few blocks from FDI at 55 N Bascom Ave.

I haven't been to Aqui or John's XLNT Foods so I can't help you there.

I'm back in OC and was able to stop by Falafel Drive In. I read somewhere that they close at 20:00; on Sunday, they close @ 18:00 and we made it with 20 minutes to spare.

We LOVED FDI. I don't care for bananas, but I enjoyed their banana milk shake. Falafels were delish, as were the hummus and the baba ghannouj. It might just become a regular stop whenever we're in the area.

We'll give DdP a go on our next visit. Thanks for the heads-up.

      2. I haven't been to John's, but we are regulars at Aqui. For almost the first two years, I never ordered off the menu because their daily specials were always so interesting. Now, eight years later, I order regularly from it, and the only negative I've found is that the steak strips on the salads can be a bit tough. They have great margaritas and twists (frozen half marg and half sangria).
