Willow Glen's Aqui or John's XLNT? What to Order?
We'll be in Willow Glen from OC this coming weekend...and thanks to you & the search feature, we've narrowed down our choices to:
- Falafel Drive In (for falafels, banana shake & sides)
- Aqui AND/OR John's XLNT
We will have time for Aqui OR John's for lunch. Which is better? And what to order? Or should we do John's for b'fast & Aqui for lunch?
Your thoughts? Thank you!

I haven't been to John's, but we are regulars at Aqui. For almost the first two years, I never ordered off the menu because their daily specials were always so interesting. Now, eight years later, I order regularly from it, and the only negative I've found is that the steak strips on the salads can be a bit tough. They have great margaritas and twists (frozen half marg and half sangria).

Keep in mind that Fallafel Drive In closes at 5pm.
Dia de Pesca is of a similar vein to FDI in regards to the casual outdoor seating. They have good fish tacos and only a few blocks from FDI at 55 N Bascom Ave.
I haven't been to Aqui or John's XLNT Foods so I can't help you there.

re: Hapa Dude
I'm back in OC and was able to stop by Falafel Drive In. I read somewhere that they close at 20:00; on Sunday, they close @ 18:00 and we made it with 20 minutes to spare.
We LOVED FDI. I don't care for bananas, but I enjoyed their banana milk shake. Falafels were delish, as were the hummus and the baba ghannouj. It might just become a regular stop whenever we're in the area.
We'll give DdP a go on our next visit. Thanks for the heads-up.
