Headed to Santa Monica for the weekend from Texas and I am looking for a sports bar to watch college football. Great drinks and food would definitely be a bonus. Any suggestions would be great appreciated!

In Santa Monica on the Third Street Promenade, I point people to either Yankee Doodles or Barney's Beanery. Yankee Doodles has more and better TV's, Barney's has the edge in food. Neither place is great for food, but there you have it.

There's a Hooters at the promenade as well which can loosely be termed a sports bar.

Maybe the last thing you'd be looking for foodwise; however there is South:

But really, Sports Bars and "Good" food don't often occur together at the same establishment.

Very true about sports bars and "good" food not going together. I should have said I prefer drinks and atmosphere over "good" food while watching football at a bar. Thanks for the suggestions!

There's also the Parlor and Busby's (Busby's is actually just across the Santa Monica border in west LA).

Parlor seconded. It's the best of the sports bars in Santa Monica for tvs, ambiance, and food. Nothing spectacular food wise, but the kitchen seems clean and the tacos are decent.

third for the Parlor. food isn't spectacular true, but it's better than barney's beanery, that's for sure, and yankee doodle's.

Stick with the fried green tomatoes and fried pickles (or, really, anything fried) at South.

I'll put a vote in for Q's on Wilshire. The food is not bad. I'd say better than South/Barney's Beanery/Yankee Doodle's. There is also a Cabo Cantina right next door, if you're in the mood for mediocre Mexican. I would go these two before other places mentioned so far.

I'm for Busby's. Nicer folks, lots of small rooms to choose, good tasting food.

Not having hung out in sports bars in recent year, I usually recommend Yankee Doodles for a real sports bar. No longer. Checking out The Parlor website, I would recommend that place in a heartbeat. Nevermind how the food is, 50 big screen TV's? And if the food is decent, bonus.
