Buying Japanese Knives in HK

I will be visiting HK for 6 days in 3 weeks. What are good places to buy Japanese Knives in HK? Looking for selection and price of course.

CitySuper (at least the one in TST) also carries a few. But you would do far better in both price and selection to order from the same place I, and everyone I know here in HK, gets their Japanese knives from: japanesechefsknife.com

there is a kitchen supply street on shanghai street in mong kok. It has a bunch of knife stores that you may find some interesting stuff at. If that doesn't do it maybe you should just wait for Tokyo, go to kapanabashi and visit a shop called kamata.

None of the Shanghai St shops have a good selection of Japanese knives.

The area of Tokyo is Kappabashi, not kapanabashi. Kamata knife shop's website is here: http://www.kap-kam.com/ but unless you read Japanese it's not going to help; I can't even tell if they ship to HK. You're still better off with japanesechefsknife.com; excellent selection and service and you don't have to go to Japan (and get fingerprinted on arrival) to shop there.

I'm not much of a cook, but my last visit to Causeway Bay Sogo, I saw some really fancy white ceramic white knifes with little dots on them (in the kitchen goods department of course), apparently so that whatever you cut - maybe sashimi - don't get stuck on the blade. It was in Japanese packaging so ... yeh, hope this helps :) Cheers

Yes, that does help! I'll take a look when I'm in HK in two weeks. Thanks.

You can find the very famous (but expensive) Global knives in Pan Handler in Prince's Building, Central.
