Bad Jitlada Experience
I've been a handful of times and usually enjoy everything...never Lotus of Siam good, but good.
Last night:
Papaya salad w/ bbq chicken - the bbq chicken was obviously cooked earlier in the day (or yesterday?), completely dried out and gnarly, and the worst of all---tasteless
Spicy Beef with chilis ...seasoned well but with poor quality ground beef
Khao Yam - was nice
might be time to start going back to Ruen Pair

You know, I've had some quite good dishes at Jitlada, but I've never realized what all the fuss is about. I assume it's something I'm missing. I've eaten pretty much everything recommended by J Gold and others, and many other items on the Southern Thai menu, and I'm just not that into it.

Funny, I thought they were closed Sunday so I went to Ruen Pair.
Ruen Pair was about half full. I got the Pad Thai and the papaya salad with shrimp and peanuts. While neither dish was terribly adventurous, they were both fresh and hit the spot. I normally prefer Jitlada, though.
