We have been twice and liked it both times. It won't equal the best of Little Indian, but for the area it is fine. I had the Rogan Josh (lamb curry) the last time and it was quite good.

The Little Next Door is pretty good. But it is somewhere between a cafe and a restaurant, not truly a restaurant.

I like both BLD and MILK on beverly for good, not too expensive fare.

Susina Cafe and Bakery has some good food and pastries.

if you seek bagels, try The Bagel Broker :)

Third and Beverly are long streets, what part of town are you looking for?

cynthia's on third, though not sure if the food has changed since she left. mimosa on beverly is always packed and gets raves from people I know, although I have not eaten there. if you can go to Sunset, in that price range you could also hit Magnolia and Bowery Bar, next door to one another just east of Vine. And if you could hit those, you might also be able to hit Hungry Cat on Vine at Sunset. Back up to Beverly, hit Cobras and Matadors for Spanish noms.

im a fan of cynthia's esp for cobbler (not so much the fried chicken), but given that the cobbler is 9 bucks, i highly doubt you can come in under the OP's budget at cynthia's. unless of course you forgo dessert and drinks, and just stick with an entree and split an app. don't get me wrong, i totally recommend it, esp since she's gone, but it's not a cheap night out there.

Don't forget about Buddha's Belly. The black cod there is delish.
