Mesa Grill (Vegas) Smells

Cigar and cigarette smoke was very noticeable from our table along the outer wall.

  1. I'll agree with that, but the food was good.

IMO, it is too close to the casino floor, and esp the Sportsbook......but I loved watching the Eagles kick the snot out of the Lions last year while eating raw cut Ahi nachos and jalapeno cornbread.

Mesa changed the ahi nacho dish, as of our lunch there in late August. Not for the better, IMO. It's now half ahi and half salmon. I think ahi stands up to the spice better. They added a very thin blue corn cracker or crisp that you can use for dipping, but I don't think it really brought anything additional to the party. There was something else different too, IIRC it was a blistered serrano oil which wasn't as spicy as it sounds. Anyway there are more elements on the plate which didn't really enhance the dish. Not that it was bad or anything, I would definitely get it again.

As to the smoke, I haven't really noticed it there but that's not saying much because I acclimate to the omnipresent background smell of cigarette smoke fairly quickly since we spend a lot of time playing cards when we're there. At least it is now possible to eat in restaurant bars in Vegas, something we love to do, without having smokers all around. I don't think people should be allowed to smoke cigars in public, period, but that's not really a topic for this board.

That is a bummer re: the nachos. Not that I had strong inclination to go back, but that was a damn good dish.

Not a place I'd go for dinner, but Michelin 1 star lunch? Sure.

    2. I didn't notice a smell eithier but like Debbie said once you been in Las Vegas for several hours you kinda get used to the smell and don't notice it. Mesa Grill is still awsome. Tamale and Margaritas all day!!!

Well we sure noticed it. Maybe as a former smoker I'm hyper sensitive. No matter how good the food is, I don't want to eat it while smelling smoke. The aroma was ruined.

Ask for a seat in the center of the restaurant if smoke bothers you.

While I've never smoked, I'm extremely smoke sensitive and cannot even stay in a room that was formerly a smoking room without it ruining my vacation.

Aside from Mesa Grill, I also found that Simon when it was at the Hard Rock affected me adversely.

The Wynn, Bellagio, and suprisingly Paris did not bother me at all. I think it is all location based at Mesa Grill, being so close to the Sports book, as Neros was great and non-smokey.
