Weekend day drinking

  • 9

This weekend is my fiance's birthday. We want to spend the day walking around and having some fun cocktails. We don't care if the bars are touristy or divey. Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks.

  1. my favorite bar in the french quarter lately has been the one in pirate's alley. it's great durring the daytime, too, with nice outdoor seating. other daytime favorites in the quarter include the carousel bar at hotel monteleone, molly's at the market, blacksmith shop and the chart room.

second that Pirate's Alley Bar...have had many mid afternoon Blue Moons there lately

I usually start at Napoleon House for a Pimms or two and a muff to go. I take the sandwich over to the Omni Royal and eat it poolside with a tasty beverage from the rooftop bar. Next I stroll down Chartres towards Jackson Square/Pirates Alley for the previously mentioned Blue Moons.

This is exactly what I have scheduled for tomorrow- the fun starts at 1!

That sounds like a fantastic day. I will definitely be stealing that agenda some day soon.

    2. I second the Carousel Bar. Also, Le Booze on Bourbon is real fun to watch street revelers but is not the standard cheesy Bourbon St bar (like Cats).

      1. I love the Napoleon House and our friends from VA adore the Carousel bar.

        1. It all sounds perfect-- and he LOVES Blue Moon! Wish I could start tomorrow but it'll have to wait for Saturday. Cheers.

          1. We started at the Carousel Bar, next stop Chart Room, Pirate's Alley, early dinner at El Gato Negro, and then Molly's. Thanks for everyone's input. Even with the rain, we had a fantastic time!

I used to live in Faubourg Marigny so if I had a drinking day it was Checkpoint Charlie's, Molly's, Napoleon House, Rib Room, Absinthe House.

            2. For day drinking, if you are uptown, I love the Bulldog. Columns is always beautiful. St Joes has the patio, Bridge Lounge has outdoor seating.
