Just wondering, how busy are PDT and Little Branch on a Thursday at around midnight? Which one would be more crowded (and thus should be avoided)?

Also, for PDT, is it possible to make a reservation for two at a booth / table? Or do parties of two have to sit at the bar?

Thanks!

They are both pretty busy but I have always been able to get a drink at little branch although sometimes would just stand in the tiny bar area. You can make a reservation there also.

Not sure about reservations at PDT. Always just sat at the bar after a wait.

It's pretty difficult to get a table for 2 at PDT as there are only two 2-tops in the entire bar. They are usually quite busy on Thursdays. However, the bar is first come, first served. I always call ahead to inquire how busy the bar is. Most parties of two wind up at the bar. You might want to have Death & Co. as a backup plan.

From my experience, PDT is really busy on Thursday nights. But like the previous poster said: if it's just two of you, then try winging it. You'll most likely wind up at the bar after a wait.

kathryn, LES Crawler, thank you for the reply. What if we really want some privacy? Is it possible to call at 3pm that day (a Thursday) to reserve one of the 2-tops at PDT for midnight?

Thanks!

You can certainly call PDT at 3pm and hope you get through. There are only a handful of tables in the entire place, so reserving a 2-top isn't much more difficult than reserving a table for 4.

I guess it depends -- there are two (maybe 3?) booths up front that can fit a good 6-8 people. There are two tables for 2 against the wall, to the immediate right of the door, as you enter. There is also a booth in the back that can comfortably seat 4-5 people. So it's about the same chances, I suppose...I did try to get a reservation last week on a Tuesday for 2 people and the earliest they had was 12:30pm, so it might work out.

I don't know about PDT but Little Branch is a tiny place and kinda cramped if comfort means anything. I would take the 5 minutes to head to Pegu Club. which makes as good drinks but feels a bit more upscale. Of course it depends on the scene you are looking for. Little Branch is surely the more "happening" place.

I'm actually looking for a more quiet, laid back atmosphere to talk.

Death & Co and Angel's Share will be much easier to get into, and are fairly laid back and quiet. Sake Bar Decibel is also a decent option, though there might be a slight wait for a table.

We were thinking of stopping in for drinks next Friday after dinner. Probably looking at 9:30. Should I make reservations?

Do you you think I should make reservations for 4 people on a Friday night at 9:30?
