Mexican in Atlanta (not NL or TdS)

There is good Mexican food in Atlanta. Nuevo Laredo and Taqueria del Sol are good places to eat... they are not mexican. (NL is a bit closer but still....). Here are some recommendations.

East Point Main Street...El Rocio just south of the marta station.
Memorial Drive..............Mi Barrio
Ashford Dunwoody Rd...Los Reyes Taqueria
Buford Hwy...................Just pick a place.

Any of these places look like hell on the outside and serve closer to authentic Mexican food than anything else Ive seen recommended here. It'll help if you speak a bit of spanish.

Im wrong. Los Reyes is right off the end of the runway at PDK on Chamblee Tucker right about halfway between Buford Hwy and New Peachtree. Most authentic Tacos in Atlanta. Have the Tacos Al Pastor with onions and cilantro only...(squeeze of fresh lime juice) it will change your idea of what a taco really is..

Then you have the name wrong- Taqueria Los Rayos. The address is technically Hospital Ave, I believe.

Haven't been late night since the Chowpup arrived, but they used to be open until 3 or 4 on the weekend.

I also like Taqueria Los Compadres across from NE Plaza on Buford. It tends to look a little sketchier than Los Rayos. But the food's good.

And I've only gotten tortas, but the eatery in the back of the El Molino Market on Cheshire Bridge does a very good job of those.

Noted in Bostock's article this week that Los Compadres is under new management as "El Huachinago Taqueria."

    2. I have to go with my favorite in Tucker, Taqueria de los Hermanos. The food there is excellent.
I am looking for a great tamal. Any recs?

      1. Zapata in Norcross is very good. we go at least once to twice a month. it is off of peachtree pkwy and holcomb bridge

I do like Zapata, I forget it is out there. Their soups are always really good.

        2. Oh my gosh, y'all!! In Atlanta, there is Rosa Mexicano and then there's everything else. Get the _incredible_ kabob.

Yeah, but $12 for guacamole? I mean, c'mon.

i have really been underwhelmed with Rosas. i think they over way over priced for what they offer.
