Looking for a bar in Monmouth County - more pubish than manhattan-like - to have a birthday party for 30-50 people. I love the look/feel of McDonough's in Keyport but don't think they have an area for a party. I'd like a private area, ideally with it's own bar, and decent food. Any ideas?

Court Jester, in Matawan, is a pub-style restaurant with decent food. There is a private room though I'm not sure how many it can hold. There's also a location in Freehold, but I've never been there.

I'd check with McDonagh's because maybe they could close off the dining area for just you since it's separate from the bar area?
As an alternate suggestion, I recommend Trinity, not too far down from McDonagh's. They have a private room downstairs with it's own bar. Depending on what time and when, you could book the whole restaurant. I hosted a benefit luncheon there on a Saturday afternoon for 40 people and we had the entire place to ourselves.

507 Main in Belmar has two bars. The one in back is generally reserved for parties. My recollection is that there are a couple of TVs in that bar, as well.
The food is pretty much standard pub fare. They do have a brick pizza oven though. The sriracha wings are a treat.

Trinity in Keyport has a private downstairs room with bar.
You may have to call them for it's capacity.
