Dinner for 4 in center city

philly123 Sep 14, 2008 11:01 AM

We want to celebrate a birthday in a few weeks and are open to anywhere in center city/south philly. We want to keep the price under 200-250 for four....and we aren't big drinkers. Open to all kinds of food. Any ideas?

Matyson has great food beautifully presented, but on a recent visit our waiter was very snobby and unpleasant. Based on that experience, I'd be leery of recommending Matyson for a special occasion because if you get that same waiter it could seriously detract from a festive occasion. In contrast, when I went to Cochon, with a large group, the service was so friendly we were made to feel very welcome.

I would second Matyson, but we also enjoy Supper @ 9th and South. www.supperphilly.com (not a byob)

We have heard great things about Supper. Can't wait to try it.

Depending on the night of the week, Matyson tasting menu is always a great choice. Tin to also has a good tasting menu, but I can't remember the price. Both Amada & Tinto are good for birthdays if you like sharing a variety. Kanella is another option.

I would suggest a moderate priced BYOB, such as Cochon
