My family and I will be in L.A. only for a long weekend. I will be attending a conference in Anaheim and seek a nice place to have dinner near (or at) Disnyland, and a nice, casual lunch place in downtown L.A. (near the new cathedral). Any and all suggestions will be much appreciated.

Downtown, with family in tow, I'd suggest Traxx at Union Station, 800 N. Alameda St. Feeling more adventurous? See the cheap but interesting thread below.

Phillipe's is a Downtown institution.
And, it pretty much defines casual.

It's a couple blocks north of Union Station, on Alameda.

- Can't guarantee it's open during the weekend (I'm fairly sure it's open on saturday, closed on sunday), but Koo Koo Roo on Grand and 3rd near the MOCA museum is a good local chain for rotisserie and BBQ chicken

- Curry House, Japanese curry, on the 2nd/3rd floor in the Weller Court shopping center near 2nd and San Pedro is pretty family friendly

Don't mean to pick a fight but I know bookistan can do better than chains. The Cathedral is adjacent to Chinatown: dim sum at Empress Pavilion would be the thing on a weekend afternoon. Weren't you here for the book show, bookistan, looking for Santa Monica rec's? What did you discover that you did or didn't like then? Sorry if I've the wrong poster.
