Late Summer/Fall 2008 openings and closings
Just figured I'd start this thread, since it's no longer spring. ;-b
I'll start with a few (most of which have already been mentioned):
Max & Dylan's in Boston, Stone Hearth Pizza in Cambridge, BurgerWorks in Beverly, Roadhouse BBQ in Brookline, and T-Rex Taqueria, also in Brookline, are open.
Sabor Do Brasil in Somerville, Aneka Rasa in Allston, and Eastern Pier in the Seaport District are all closed.

Anybody know what will occupy the former "Paesan's" space in the North End? Walked by there recently and it looked like part of a ghost town. Broken front window and all.
I've noticed that a few new shops have opened in the area over the past year or two, so I was wondering if another restaurant will have a go at this location or will it become a retail establishment.

re: gini
That place didn't last very long...there was an item that the folks who run Cafe Zing in Porter Square Books have taken over the space. I have heard good things about that cafe, so hopefully, the pizza will be decent.
Plus Stone Hearth Pizza has re-opened in the former DiMio spot.
Not an opening - just wanted to note I stopped in to the Paddock on Friday night - pretty quiet - pizza was darn outstanding. Real good crust - it may be my favorite pizza at the moment. Will have to sample again soon.

re: pollystyrene
If I remember accurately, the old Paddock had a thicker, breadier pizza. This one was more thin-crust, almost NY-style (no enormous doughy bubbles on the crust, being an example of a NY-style thing). I prefer this style. This was my first time back since the new chef took over some time ago.
We also had an order of steamed mussels, and there were a couple that tasted a bit off, which we did not eat. So that could also be an indication of overall quality, or it could just be what happens when you get mussels.
Basically, we need more data.

Kabab & Tandoor will be opening at a new location in Waltham - 699 Main Street - where La Cocina de Cayo used to be - just pass the Waltham Common.
There is a new sign out front, and the store appears to be under renovation. Not sure when the opening date is. The original one on Lexington Street is still open right now.

Tried to go by Erbaluce last night; it was shuttered and dark. Peering in through the windows isn't very reliable in an unlit place, but from what little I could see they haven't dramatically reworked the old Dedo space, whose underdecoration was (I think) a problem for them. I know they did a soft-opening benefit event last weekend; I'd still like to know about a real opening date.
We ended up at Coda instead, which was, as ever, very reliable and reasonable.

re: Rubee
Fun! I think their blowout on October 26 sounds great also:
"On our final night October 26, we will feature a Bye Bye Bistrot Blowout, a 5:30 to 10 pm foodie fest of 6- Course Tasting Menus** for $80. Beautiful wines will also be available. This will be the very last night you can watch Chef Tony Maws navigate his tiny kitchen, trip over an upstairs tenant’s laundry basket, or crank up the car jack that supports the counter on which your dinner is lovingly plated. Much as we will miss our tiny basement and our neighbors, we can’t suppress our joy about our new kitchen and its ability to serve you more and better offerings. We have just a few spots left on Sunday but should be able to accommodate reservations for Tuesday - Saturday"
