Restaurants around Independence Park and Market Street Septa stop

I am looking for 2 restaurant suggestions:

1. Someplace for 2 adults to have a nice dinner near Independence Park. We will be staying at a hotel on Chestnut and 3rd street (?) and want a nice dinner--steak, indian, mexican, basic american food, whatever.

2. Someplace to go with 2 kids near the Market Street East Septa stop (12th street).

Thank you so much!!

  1. For the kids, Franklin Square is a great place. It's actually closer to your hotel than Market East. Race St. between 6th and 7th Sts. They have mini-golf and a carousel. Pictures here...

And also near your hotel is Franklin Fountain, an "old-time" ice cream parlor on Market between Front and Second Sts. that the kids (and adults) will love.

For dinner, go to Amada. Very good Spanish tapas on Chestnut between 2nd and 3rd Sts. The chef there (Jose Garces) just beat Bobby Flay on Iron Chef. Just be sure to make a reservation. It was already a popular place before Iron Chef.

Hope that helps and enjoy your visit to Philly!!

    1. If you're going to be around the Market East stop at breakfast or lunch time with the kids, be sure to go to Reading Market (at 12th and Arch...a block away from Market East and accessible up the stairs near the convention center) for a smorgasboard of great Philly food
