Help me plan Hubby's surprise party

  • 6

I'm trying to plan a suprise party for my husband's birthday. I would say around 20 people. The restaurant should be excellent food and service, with a mid range price point, say $30-$40 per person including one drink. The location should be central, lets say between Bayview and Bathurst, Wilson to Bloor. All types of food suggestions welcome, however something appealing to everyone is prefered.

I appreciate all your suggestions!

  1. Do you need a private room? If not, how about Coquine? It's central and the menu is large and varied enough to please just about everyone. The space is nice, without being stuffy or over the top. And the bartender is very good there (always a plus!).

    1. Try calling up Quince. They have a downstairs lounge with sound system and dining room that would be great for a party of 20.

      1. paese at bathurst & wilson?
i think they have an upstairs party room....i haven't eaten there in ages but my SO eats there often for lunch and says it excellent....they also own L'Eat catering so my guess is that could do a very professional job for a party.

        1. Grano has a nice courtyard that could be booked, and would be perfect for the surprise element. Great simple Italian food, decent wine list that's not horribly marked up.

Thanks for the suggestions, we've been everywhere except Coquine. To sum it up, we weren't impressed with Quince or Grano and Paese is not very special since we go there regularly.

Any other ideas? I appreciate all the help!

          2. Plakutta has a private room that seats 22 and their menu would fit your price range. I think they even had a $30 prix fixe for a while, but I don't see anything on their site about it. Parking would be a challenge.

The Courtyard Restaurant in Yorkville also has a private room and pretty good schnitzel, reasonable prices.

Pricier but perhaps doable if you're careful is Sequel. They've got a second floor with a fireplace for private parties. Parking might be easier.
