Chinese Takeout in Highland Park?

JoanN Sep 10, 2008 04:24 PM

Visiting Mom, and the only place she knows is China Star on Raritan Avenue. Mediocre at best. Saw a couple of decent reviews on the board for of Shanghai Park, but the most recent was more than a year ago. Is it still good? Anything else?

If you want American Style Lo Mein I would avoid Shanghai. I like pork or crab soup buns, mushroom soup, or chicken corn chowder soup at Shanghai.

Are there any special dishes are you looking for?

Not really, although Mom does like American Style Vegetable Lo Mein, and anything with eggplant or vegetable combinations. And Dan Dan noodles, but I'll be making those from scratch. No pork. She likes Chinese soups, too, and I'll bet she'd love the crab soup buns. I'll have to try those. Thanks for the recommendations.

Four of us ordered take out in June. With the exception of one of us, it was the first that we had eaten from this restaurant. The food was very good and they got our order right. They do not deliver but there is a parking lot right next door.
