Favorite Signature Dishes?

Sweetbread Sep 10, 2008 03:32 PM

When my wife and I come into Boston from the North Shore, usually for an occasion, we tend to go to the same places and order favorite dishes, like the lobster Savannah at Locke-Obers the Oak Room's steak for two. She has a birthday coming up and I'd like to branch out a bit. Any suggestions?

Haven't had it in a while, but lavender honey glazed whole roasted boneless duck for two with leeks, roasted peaches, and Salts farm turnips at Salts was amazing.

Pardon me if the rest of these aren't especially useful for your purposes.

I still adore the Provençal fisherman’s soup with rouille, Gruyère and basil oil at Rialto.

            Trofie at Rocca.

Penne alla buongustaio at Trattoria Toscana.

Not fancy enough for an occasion, but still wonderful is the traditional three-course Peking duck dinner at King Fung Garden. Similarly informal, but you have to order it in advance (which feels more special) is the squab bastilla torte at Baraka Cafe. Likewise, I never go to Mary Chung without ordering suan la chow show. Veggie pakoras at India Quality. Shish kebab at Santarpio's.
