Anniversary...where to go for a drink b4 dinner?

My husband and I are celebrating our 3rd anniversary next wednesday. We just bought a new car so we wanted to do something a little lower key for our anniversary. We are going to Opera in the South Loop b/c we went there on one of our first dates.

BUT, I want to take him somewhere romantic and impressive for a drink before dinner. It doesn't have to be right next to Opera, but at least in the general loop/south loop/river north/ or printers row area.

The only idea I have had so far was Sixteen (the new Trump place), but haven't been there so don't know if that is a good place to go just for a drink or not.

Help!

I haven't been to Sixteen, so I don't know if it's a good place for just a drink or not. I have been to the bar at the Trump, and it felt like an overpriced hotel bar.

I'm going to second the terrace at NoMi, weather permitting. I went there on a special date night, and it was really really nice. Expensive, no doubt, but definitely romantic and special.

The terrace at NoMi in the Park Hyatt is wonderful. The Condrad (right next to Nordstrom on MI Ave) also has a really nice terrace.

My 1st thought was the indoor bar on the main floor of the Peninsula Hotel, which is 1 flight up from the street.

I know they aren't not very close to Opera, but my favorite drink spots for a special occasion (or any occasion really) are the bar at Le Coloniel (romantic Casablanca-ish), Pops for Champagne, the Terrace at the Peninsula (if the weather is nice) and Cru Wine Bar. Have a fun night!
